The door-answering costume that reads from the sidewalk

A plague-doctor look built around a long-beaked mask in leather-look black, stitched down the seams and set with metal rivets, with round blue-tinted lenses and a riveted strap at the temple. Adult sizing, and the size chart is in the photos. It belongs at the front door, behind the candy bowl.

Reads from the walkway

The beak throws a profile nobody has to squint at, even under one porch bulb. The stitching, the rivets and the tinted lenses only show up once a kid is close enough for the bowl.

Leather-look panels, stitched and riveted

The beak is sewn from shaped panels and studded with small metal rivets, and each round lens sits in its own stitched ring. At the temple a riveted strap leaves the shell to hold the mask on.

Static, so the porch stays quiet

No motor, no batteries, nothing to charge, so the shape does all of the work. Wear it inside by the door or out on the step; it lands slightly scary, more unsettling than frightening for the small ones.

After the last doorbell

You spend the night at the door, and the walk up the driveway is where this pays off. In November it goes back in the bin, beak up and with nothing stacked on top of it. Standard shipping runs 5 to 7 days, express 3 to 4.

  • Beak stores nose-up with nothing stacked on it
  • Riveted panels and stitching, not a printed shell
  • Tinted lenses keep the eyes hidden at the door
What exactly am I getting?

The beaked mask: the shaped leather-look shell stitched down the seams, the metal rivets, the two round tinted lenses in their stitched rings, and the riveted strap at the temple.

Is there a size to pick?

No. It ships in one adult size, held on by the riveted strap at the temple.

How much can I see through it?

The two round lenses are the eye openings and they are tinted, so plan for less light than your own eyes are used to on a dark porch.

Does it move or make sound?

No. It is a static mask — no motor, no speaker, nothing to charge. The shape does all of the work.

Will it frighten the smallest kids?

It lands slightly scary: strange rather than gruesome, so the little ones tend to stare instead of turning around halfway up the walk.

How should I store it?

Beak up, with nothing stacked on top of it, so the shape still holds next October.
