Five feet, stakes included

A five-foot stone with somebody already leaning out of it

This is not a filler headstone. At five feet it is the anchor of the plot — the piece the smaller stones arrange themselves around, with a figure emerging from the face of it so the story is told in one object instead of two. Ground stakes are included, so it stands without a base plate sitting on your grass.

Anchor, not filler

Five feet is chest-to-eye height on most people walking past. Everything else on the lawn gets read in relation to it, which is exactly what you want one piece to do.

Stone and figure in one

The skeleton is part of the piece, not a separate prop propped against it. Nothing to align, and nothing that shifts out of position in the wind.

Stakes, not a stand

It stakes into the ground, so there is no visible base to disguise. A plastic foot plate on a lawn is the detail that gives a whole scene away in daylight.

Built for outdoors

Building the plot around it

Set this one first and everything else second. Slightly off-centre and turned a few degrees toward the walk, never square to the house — square reads as furniture. Then put the smaller stones at varied distances behind it and keep the ground in front of it clear.

  • 5 ft tall — it is the anchor of the plot, not a filler stone
  • Ground stakes included, so it goes up without a base
  • Moulded stone and bone in one piece, weathered to match
How tall is it?

Five feet, which is chest-to-eye height on most people walking past. Everything else on the lawn gets read in relation to it.

Does it need a base or a stand?

No. Ground stakes are included, so there is no plastic foot plate sitting on the grass — the detail that gives a whole scene away in daylight.

Will a five-foot piece blow over?

It is staked, not weighted, so the ground does the work. Drive the stakes full depth into soft soil and turn the face a few degrees off the wind rather than standing it broadside to it.

Is the skeleton a separate prop?

No. The figure is moulded as part of the stone, so there is nothing to align and nothing that shifts out of position overnight.

Where should it go in the yard?

Set this one first, slightly off-centre and turned a few degrees toward the walk, never square to the house — square reads as furniture. Then put the smaller stones behind it at varied distances and keep the ground in front of it clear.

Can it stay out all season?

It is an outdoor piece and stands through October, then lifts off the stakes in November.
