Twelve feet from the base to the tip of the stem. That clears most single-story porches, so most people set it on open lawn a few feet off the walkway — that's where the height reads best from the street, not tucked against a doorway.
Both, independently. Footsteps on the walkway trigger it, and so does a loud enough sound nearby — a car door, a group of trick-or-treaters talking. Either one wakes the eyes and chest and starts the slow rise.
The carved eyes and the gaps down its chest glow red from inside, and the whole figure rises and lowers slowly on its stand — not a jump-scare snap, more like it's noticing you and standing up straighter. It resets a few seconds after things go quiet.
Molded to look like twisted, weathered branches — dark, gnarled, with the texture of bark rather than smooth plastic. They stay in a fixed reaching pose; they don't move on their own, the motion is in the rise-and-lower of the body.

It clears our porch roof by a couple feet. Went with open lawn instead of by the door like I originally planned, and that's clearly the right call — the height reads from the sidewalk now.
I was skeptical about the sound sensor but a group of kids laughing on the sidewalk set it off before anyone got close enough for the motion sensor to catch them. Doubles the number of times it actually goes off in a night.
The frame and head went together fine solo, but getting the robe draped even over the arms without it bunching took a second set of hands. Once it's on, it stays put.
I expected a snap or a jerk. It actually eases up like it's straightening its posture, which is somehow more unsettling than a fast movement would be. My neighbor two doors down noticed it from her porch.
The red glow down the chest reads even better than the face from a distance — it's the first thing you notice walking up our street after dark.
First spot I picked was right under our porch light and the glow effect basically disappeared during the evening when trick-or-treaters actually come by. Moved it ten feet into the shadow of the tree and now it's the star of the yard. Wish the box had mentioned that.
Two nights of strong gusts and it only swayed a little at the stem. Staked the base with our own ground stakes since none came in the box, and it hasn't budged since.
