Is the hole actually 3D, or is it printed?

Printed. There's no trapdoor and no real drop — the entire illusion is a single flat design printed onto a quilted rug. All the depth lives in the artwork, not underfoot.

What sizes does the Frostbone Illusion Rug come in?

Seven: 16in/40cm, 20in/50cm, 24in/60cm, 32in/80cm, 40in/100cm, 47in/120cm, and 55in/140cm — all at the same slim 0.19in (0.5cm) thickness.

How do I clean it?

Vacuum it like any rug to keep it fresh. For spills or spot stains, a mild detergent and a damp cloth handle it. It's not machine washable, so keep it out of the laundry.

Will it slide around on the floor?

No. The backing is plastic set with rubber non-slip dots, and the edge is locked so it won't curl up or fray at the seam over time.

Can I put it outside, like on the porch?

It's built and intended for indoor use — entryways, hallways, living rooms. We don't have outdoor durability data on it, so keep this one inside.

How fast does it ship?

Standard shipping runs 5-7 business days. In a hurry? Express gets it there in 3-4 business days. Everything ships from our US supplier.

Can I mix different illusion rug designs in one order?

Each design is its own listing in the collection. This one is only the Frostbone design — grab any other design you want as a separate order.

Why buy a pack of 2, 4, or 8 instead of just one?

It's the same Frostbone design, just more of it — enough to cover the front door, the back door, and the hallway in between. And the more you grab, the less each rug costs: $49.50, $34.75, or $24.88 per unit.

Stopped every trick-or-treater on the block

We got the 4-pack in 24in and lined our entryway just inside the front door. Every single kid (and half the parents) did a double-take at the skeleton in the Santa coat popping out with the present the moment they saw it through the open doorway — my neighbor thought we'd ordered a custom piece. The quilted surface feels way sturdier underfoot than I expected, and the edges haven't curled at all after two weeks of daily foot traffic.

Perfect for our weird Halloween/Christmas mashup mantle

My wife and I do a 'Krampus meets Halloween' theme every year and this rug finally gave us the centerpiece we were missing. Got the 2-pack at 32in, put one right in front of the fireplace on hardwood, and the rubber-dot backing has kept it completely in place even with three kids running through. Photographed way better in person than on the site, honestly.

One corner arrived a little creased, otherwise great

Ordered the 8-pack in 16in as party favors for our block's Halloween-slash-Christmas potluck, and one of the eight had a slight crease along the locked edge from shipping. Set a couple of heavy books on it overnight and it laid completely flat by the next morning, so no real issue. The kids at the party kept arguing over who found the present in the skeleton's hand first, which tells you the design lands.

Great design, more upkeep than I expected

Got the 2-pack in 40in for our entryway and the artwork itself is genuinely cool, red-and-white striped board pattern looks sharp against our tile. My only gripe is the light stripes show dust and shoe scuff fast with daily foot traffic, and I wish it were machine washable instead of spot-clean only — I get why it isn't, given the backing, but it's an extra step. Still, after a month I'm keeping it and already eyeing the 4-pack for the hallway.

Went big and it paid off

Sized up to the 55in from the 4-pack option and laid it just inside our front entry, right where it was visible through the glass door for the neighborhood Halloween walk. Shipped in about 6 days like the listing said, and the scale of the skeleton-Santa design at that size is honestly kind of unreal up close. Half the street stopped to take pictures through the door before they even got to the actual decorations.

Shows lint easily but holds up well

We put the 20in from our 4-pack on the stair landing where my kids stop dead every time to stare at the skeleton pulling the present out of the ground. Only knock is the red areas show pet hair and lint more than I'd like between vacuum runs, but a quick pass with the vacuum sorts it out fine. The locked edge hasn't frayed at all even with two dogs going up and down those stairs daily.

Lined our whole hallway with the 8-pack

Bought the 8-pack in 24in and ran them the length of our downstairs hallway, same design repeating the whole way — my father-in-law now calls it 'the Grandpa Frost gauntlet.' They genuinely feel built to last, not like the flimsy stuff you get from seasonal pop-up stores, and the non-slip backing means nobody's slid on them even in socks. Worth it for how much conversation they start alone.

Express shipping came through for our party

Needed these fast for a Halloween-meets-Christmas party and paid for express — arrived in 4 business days, no issues. Got the 2-pack at 47in and put them on our entryway tile, and the rubber-dot backing kept them from sliding around even with guests standing right on the edge for photos all night. Everyone assumed we'd had the design custom made, which is a pretty good sign.
