Static cutouts, indoor glass, no-damage install
A set of black cutouts — tall witches in pointed hats, bats in a few sizes, spiders, and one web with its tenant still in it. They go on the inside of the glass, so the porch light or a lamp behind them does the work. Doorway panes, sidelights, the picture window facing the street.
Put the witches on the biggest pane at standing height and scatter the bats across the smaller ones, thinning them toward the top. From the curb the eye reads the figures first and the swarm second.
They go on the inside face of the glass and come back off without a mark on the pane or the jamb, so a rental or a freshly painted frame is no problem. The whole window is one pass.
These are static cutouts — nothing moves, nothing makes a sound, nothing plugs in. The whole effect is backlight and shape, so there is no extension cord running through the spot where kids line up.
